Privacy Policy

      SWLTools does not collect, store or transmit any personal data.

      All processing happens on your device. No account is required. No analytics or tracking of any kind is used.

Data processed on your device

SWLTools processes audio from your device's microphone or connected audio source exclusively to perform signal analysis and to decode the on-air text modes (Morse/CW, RTTY, SITOR-B, weather fax and ACARS aircraft messages). This audio data:

Is never recorded to disk unless you explicitly use the recording feature
Is never transmitted to any server or external service
Is not accessible to the developer in any form

Data stored on your device

SWLTools may store the following data locally on your device:

App preferences and settings (filter parameters, color themes, input source selection)
Audio recordings you make, and videos you create from them
Decoded text sessions you choose to save
The optional aircraft registry, if you install it

This data is never transmitted outside your device and is not accessible to the developer.

Network activity

SWLTools never sends anything. No audio, no decoded text, no identifier, no usage information ever leaves your device.

The app makes one network request, and only if you ask for it. In the ACARS decoder you can install an optional aircraft registry — a file of public aircraft registration data — which is downloaded over HTTPS from the developer's own site at sramp.com. It is used to show the model and operator next to an aircraft's registration. The download is a plain file transfer: nothing about you or your device is sent with it, and the app works normally without the registry, showing the country of registration alone.

Everything else — spectrum, waterfall, and all the decoders — works entirely offline.

Microphone and audio access

SWLTools requires access to your device's audio input to analyze radio signals. The microphone permission is used solely for real-time signal processing within the app. Audio is never stored without your explicit action and is never transmitted.

Permissions requested

Microphone

Required to capture audio from the built-in microphone or from a USB audio adapter, for real-time spectrum analysis and digital mode decoding. iOS routes USB audio adapters through this same permission, so without it the app has no input at all — not even from the adapter.

Photos — add only

Requested the first time you save a received weather fax as an image. The app asks for add-only access: it can place a chart in your library, and cannot read, browse or modify anything already there.

Third-party SDKs and analytics

SWLTools does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking SDK. No data is shared with any third party.

Children's privacy

SWLTools does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL. The date at the top of the page will reflect the most recent update.
