Privacy Policy

No personal data collection

Altitude Explorer is designed to operate without any knowledge of who you are. Specifically, the app does not:

• Collect personal information such as name, email address, or phone number
• Track user behaviour, usage patterns, or app interactions
• Use cookies, analytics tools, or any tracking technology
• Share, sell, or transfer any data to third parties
• Require user accounts, registration, or authentication
• Gather device identifiers or system information

Network requests — elevation data

To resolve elevation values, the app sends coordinates (latitude and longitude) to our elevation server at sramp.com. These requests:

• Contain only the geographic coordinates you explicitly query — never your current GPS position unless you tap the "my location" button
• Do not include any device identifiers, user IDs, or personal information
• Are not logged in association with any user or session identity
• Are used solely to return elevation values and are not stored persistently

Location services

Altitude Explorer may request access to your device location to centre the map on your current position. Location data:

• Is used only to set the initial map view — it is never sent to any server
• Is not stored, logged, or shared
• Can be denied without affecting the core elevation features

File import

You may import GPX, KML, KMZ, or GeoJSON track files from your device. These files are processed entirely on-device. Their content is never uploaded to any server, shared, or stored outside the app's local storage.

Data stored on your device

Altitude Explorer stores the following data locally on your device:

• Elevation profiles you choose to save to your personal library
• Your app preferences and settings (units, map style, colours)

This data is never transmitted to any server and is not accessible to the developer. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.

No third-party SDKs

Altitude Explorer does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking SDK. There are no libraries within the app that collect or transmit user data.

Children's privacy

Since the app does not collect any personal data, it is safe for users of all ages, including children under the age of 13.

Changes to this policy

If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL. The date at the top of the page will reflect the most recent update. Our commitment to not collecting personal user data will not change.
